ACPA Staff Receive Prestigious Awards

The ACPA Celebrates Prestigious Award Honorees, Josh Beakley and Margarita Takou

Josh Beakley and Margarita Takou hold their awards alongside ACPA President, Steven HawkinsIrving, TX – October 2024 – The American Concrete Pipe Association (ACPA) is thrilled to announce that two of its most distinguished staff members, Josh Beakley and Margarita Takou, have been honored with significant industry awards for their contributions and dedication to the field of concrete pipe technology.

Frank J. Heger Memorial Award
Josh Beakley, P.E., Vice President of Engineering at ACPA, has been awarded the esteemed ASTM C13 Frank J. Heger Memorial Award. This accolade is a testament to his outstanding dedication and service to the C13 Committee. Beakley, who has been with the ACPA since 1994, is recognized as one of the foremost experts in the industry. Known for his intelligence and humility, he is an invaluable member of both the ACPA and the broader industry.

"Josh’s technical prowess and his humble approach make him not just a recipient of this award but a cornerstone of our association," commented ACPA President, Steven Hawkins, AIA.

Spangler Award
Margarita Takou, Ph.D., P.E., ENV SP, has been honored with the 2024 Spangler Award, reflecting her ongoing and significant technical contributions to the ASTM C13 Committee. Dr. Takou, renowned for her talent and determination, is an unstoppable force within the industry and a critical member of the ACPA. Her commitment to excellence is apparent in all of her pursuits. "Margarita’s unstoppable spirit and dedication to technical excellence greatly enhance our team and industry standards," added Hawkins.

"We are incredibly proud of both Josh and Margarita. What they bring to the industry, our members, and our association is invaluable," said Steven Hawkins. "From their technical prowess to their determination, to the value they bring to our team dynamic, they are some of the most worthy recipients of these awards. I speak on behalf of the industry and the staff when I say how grateful we are for these two and how lucky we are to have them on our team."
