Kurt Johnson Named New ACPA Chairman of the Board
Irving, Texas – April 6, 2022 – The American Concrete Pipe Association (ACPA) is pleased to announce the association’s new Chairman of the Board is Kurt Johnson, Vice President of Pipe and Precast at Geneva Pipe and Precast, a Northwest Pipe Company. Johnson was confirmed as Chairman during the ACPA’s Annual Convention held March 27-29.
Johnson is the 115th ACPA Chairman in the association’s 115-year history. As Chairman of the Board, Johnson leads the ACPA Executive Committee, which consists of five offices: Treasurer, Secretary, Vice Chair, Chair, and Immediate Past Chair. Johnson is serving his fourth year on the Executive Committee. He will serve a one-year term as Chairman, followed by one year as an Immediate Past Chair.

Johnson began working in the reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) industry at Geneva Pipe Company in 2008 and has served in a variety of roles at the company, including Plant Manager, Chief Operating Officer, and President and Chief Executive Officer. Prior to joining Geneva Pipe, Johnson served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Interlock Construction and Hardscape Specialties Inc.
“Johnson will lead the industry’s efforts of promoting RCP as the leading choice for sustainable and resilient infrastructure products wherever they’re specified,” says ACPA President, Steven Hawkins, AIA. “We look forward to his leadership in growing the concrete pipe and box culvert market and engaging our membership base. The ACPA is grateful for the service of Immediate Past Chairman, Branimir Kovak of Thompson Pipe Group, who guided the association through a transition year including the continuing impacts of COVID-19, converting the association’s largest event, Pipe School, to a hybrid event, and enhancing our committees and board’s structure.”
Johnson became Chairman on March 29th, 2022, and will serve a one-year term.
